“Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later.” Romans 8:18 NLT
In this life, we are often faced with circumstances that cause us suffering. Whether it be physical, spiritual, or emotional, we have been given all we need to endure until the day we are made complete in Christ. Walking the path that God has laid out for us is a true testimony of our desire to pursue the ONE who makes us new. To say that because we are His, we should not have to endure suffering is not biblical. The Bible says in 1 Peter 2:21 (NLT), “For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.”
Here, my friends, is the good news: YOU DO NOT SUFFER IN VANE! Our Heavenly Father is aware of all you endure for His name’s sake. When we cry out to God to deliver us from our trials and He chooses not to, this is not an indication of His desire to punish us. This act is an example of His love for us. He desires for us to push through adversity as He walks beside us in it. If He delivered us from all our trials, two things would happen:
1. We would never learn that we are stronger with Him by our side and can endure and learn from the testing.
2. We would eventually forget He is the deliverer and begin to wonder why we need Him at all.
Neither of these are a place that a true follower of Christ would want to find themselves in. So, just as our predecessors, we endure and cry out to the ONLY ONE who can keep us planted on solid foundation regardless of the trial.
God is saying don’t stop – Push Through It – I AM is with you!
“Lord, help us to see that when we face trials it is an opportunity for us to grow. Show us Father that we have the strength to endure because you are with us and never leave us! Teach us that endurance is about holding on to your truth in us and not allowing anything false to cloud our view. Our goal is to stand before you and that comes with the knowledge that we must accept who you are molding us in to. Lord, write our autobiography and make it what you desire it to be. Help us remember to cry out to you for everything we need and know that you are already at work perfecting us through progressive remaking. We will not be a completed masterpiece until we stand before you. As we endure until that day, be our guide and deliverer in times of trouble. We love how you love us, Lord! AMEN.”
