“In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one;and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication.” Ephesians 6:16-18 (ESV)
When we are bombarded by lies from the world and Satan, it can be easy for us to give up. The truth seems to get lost in the shuffle of putting out fires that hinder our ability to take a breath. Many of us ask –
“What have I done to deserve this?”
“What do I need to do to get out of this?”
“Where can I turn to get some relief?”
Yes, even as Christians we can lose sight of what is instructed when trials come. The reality of our situation is not based on what we see before us, it is all about perspective. We can see a situation as hopeless or we can say,
“Lord, what is it you are trying to teach me in this?”
This does not mean that every trial we go through is brought on by God. We can create trials by making poor decisions and then having to reap the consequences. However, even in these situations God can use them for our good if we are repentant.
The Word of God is our instruction manual for anything we face in this life. The key is that you must press in and seek the truth that is found there! We have been given power to overcome all that this world can bring. We have been given power to stand against the lies the enemy throws at us. We have been given power to ENDURE in the face of life’s hardest trials and temptations. The catch….we have to stay tapped into the source: JESUS!
Prayer: “Lord, help us seek truth when we are faced with what seems impossible circumstances. Show us how to find your truth when we are surrounded by lies. Teach us Father to have discernment concerning your Word and know when there are inconsistencies in what we hear. Most of all, Lord, help us stay in close relationship with you so we know your voice. Let us learn to not move without your direction and only stay in motion as we walk out your call on our life. As we press in to truth, we know you are strengthening us through it. Amen.”
